Caring for veterans is a dream-come-true for many nurses at the Minneapolis VA Health Care System. The veterans are a unique group of patients that keeps nurses interested, challenged, and satisfied with their work. There is no greater privilege than to provide healthcare to those who have served their country.
To provide excellent patient-centered care
To establish and maintain a professional practice environment that supports evidence-based practice and education
Trust, Respect, Excellence, Commitment, Compassion, Empowerment, Continuous Improvement, Collaboration
The Minneapolis VA Health Care System wants to ensure that its patients are cared for safely, while maintaining a safe work environment for employees. A Safe Patient Handling Program is being implemented to ensure the required infrastructure is in place. This infrastructure includes implementing a culture of safety, providing patient handling equipment, program elements to support use of this equipment, and employee training.
