Minneapolis VA Activates AudioCare
1-855-560-1721On October 3rd, 2011, Minneapolis VA Health Care System (MVAHCS) activated AudioCareTM a new automated communications system. AudioCare automates the communication between the MVAHCS, MVAHCS providers, and most important of all, patients. Easy access to this technology allows MVAHCS to offer a significantly higher level of patient care. Furthermore, AudioCare Systems allows patients easy access to important healthcare information and services 24 hours a day seven days a week. AudioCare delivers information by four different applications. Appointment RemindersAudioReminderTM automatically calls the Veteran to remind him/her of upcoming appointments by clinic scheduled within the next two days and allows the patients to cancel or reschedule the appointments in a convenient manner. AudioReminder allows the medical center to reduce the number of no shows and missed opportunities, lower associated costs and frees staff from the time consuming task of patient reminder phone calls. Calls are placed from 3:30pm – 8:00pm. Veterans will be transferred to the patient call center during business hours up to 6:00pm. All requests to reschedule will be followed up by a telephone call with a live person the following day in order to make the appointment change. Confirming, Canceling and Rescheduling AppointmentsAudioInquiryTM allows Veterans to find out the dates and times of their appointments and confirm, cancel, or reschedule. Veterans can access this application 24 hours a day seven days a week from a touch-tone telephone. Veterans who call and want to reschedule an appointment will be followed up by a call from a live person the next day in order to change their appointment. Prescription RefillsAudioRefillTM gives Veterans access to an automated prescription refill system at their convenience from any touch-tone telephone. Using this system will allow Veterans to receive their prescriptions three days earlier than with mail in requests. AudioRefill provides greater efficiency to the pharmacy department, free up staff, reduce the number of incoming phone prescription refill requests, and to provide patients with an easy, reliable and accessible prescription refill program through an automated phone system. Communicating InformationAudioCommunicatorTM is a flexible tool that allows the user to automate contact with any number - large or small, patients or staff in order to make important announcements gather valuable information or promote ancillary medical services through a highly customizable telephone application.
