The Psychiatry Partial Hospital Program (PPH) is a three-week outpatient program that serves veterans with a variety of mental health issues such as suicide, depression, bipolar disorder, schizophrenia, posttraumatic stress disorder and substance abuse.
In PPH, the Creative Arts Therapist works toward patient goals as part of the interdisciplinary team. Goals may include: emotion regulation, expression of emotions, mindfulness, relaxation, grounding, body awareness, self-care, social connection, and leisure skill planning. Interventions may include drumming and percussion groups, song-writing, sing-along, lyric analysis, exercise to music, modified yoga and qi-gong, breathing practice, guided imagery and progressive muscle relaxation, structured therapeutic movement, guitar lessons, a day at the Minneapolis Institute of Arts, and other experiential psycho-education topics.
