VA Standardizes "Phone Tree"

a Veteran talks on his cell phone

The phone tree allows the caller to pick from a menu to access pharmacy, appointments, triage nurse, eligibility, billing and other questions.

Tuesday, September 24, 2013

The "Standardized Telephone Tree" project is being implemented at the Minneapolis VA Health Care System on September 30, 2013.

Whenever a Veteran calls any of the 151 VA medical centers anywhere across the country, he/she will now receive the same selection of recorded messages.

All incoming calls to the main number (612-725-2000 or 1-866-414-5058) will receive the standard initial message, which includes a “Welcome” and advice to call the Veteran’s Crisis Line in cases of a mental health emergency.

The next grouping of messages allows the caller to pick from a menu to access pharmacy, appointments, triage nurse, eligibility, billing and other questions.

The new phone tree will seem seamless to callers.  The Minneapolis VAHCS menu selections are actually changing very little.
