In an Emergency
If you are experiencing a medical emergency, please go to your nearest medical facility emergency room or call 911. If you are in need of immediate crisis counseling, please contact the Veterans Crisis Line at 1-800-273-TALK (8255) and press 1; counselors are available 24/7.
Reporting Non-VA Emergency Care
If you are admitted for non-VA emergency care, be sure to tell the non-VA Emergency Room and hospital facility that you are a Veteran. You must report your non-VA inpatient admissions and/or emergency room visits within 72 hours of the start of emergent care. Patients, providers and representative can call 1-844-72HRVHA (1-844-724-7842) or email VHAEmergencyNotification@va.gov to report notification.
