Clinical Social Work

The Minneapolis VAMC has a 50 year history of providing internship opportunities to second year, MSW students.  The Minneapolis program operates under the auspices of the national Social Work Service, Veterans Health Administration (VHA).

VHA is one of the largest trainers of social work students in the country and annually trains approximately 600 social work interns.  Field instructors and interns at Minneapolis benefit greatly from access to this national network of resources.

Currently the Minneapolis VAMC has affiliation agreements with all four of the accredited schools of social work in the region.  Specifically these schools are the University of Minnesota, Augsburg College, University of St. Thomas and St. Catherine University. Students who are interested in training experiences at the Minneapolis VA should check with their school’s faculty.
