Can We Talk Secure Messaging?
You may have heard of the MyHealtheVet website. MyHealtheVet is an online personal medical diary for Veterans. With a free, Premium account Veterans can access their VA appointment list and order their medications from the VA, and view their VA Medical Record. There is an extensive Veteran’s Health Library for use for researching medical conditions, medications and procedures. Veterans can also send Secure Messages to their VA Care providers. Secure Messaging is a fully encrypted message system that is designed to protect Veteran’s privacy and security. You can check out what MyHealtheVet has to offer at www.myhealth.va.gov
Access to Healthcare Teams
Within Secure Messaging, Veterans have options to send Secure Messages to their primary care providers and other specialty care providers that they have seen within the last year, such as, Orthopedics, Dermatology, Mental Health and many others. All Veterans who use Secure Messaging have access to other teams such as the VA Patient Advocate, LGBT Questions and the MyHealtheVet Coordinator. While in-person communication is the best, for non-urgent, health-related questions, Secure Messaging can be a great way to communicate with your care teams.

The Minneapolis VA has a MyHealtheVet Welcome Center in the first floor Flag Atrium that is staffed with knowledgeable VA Volunteers who can help you get started.
