Minneapolis VA Going Tobacco Free Effective May 29
The Minneapolis VA Health Care System is committed to providing excellent health care for Veterans. In our efforts to fully promote a healthy environment for all of our Veterans, visitors and contractors, we will be a tobacco-free campus effective May 29, 2019.
All tobacco products to include pipes, vaping devices, chewing tobacco, etc., will no longer be allowed on the campus, and the Veteran smoking area will be closed.
If you would like assistance with counseling, educational tools and substitute nicotine products, please contact 612-467-1100 or 866-414-5058 weekdays between 7:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m. to make an appointment with your VA provider.

Smoking Quitline: Did you know? Tobacco quitlines can double your chances of quitting, compared with getting no support at all. Call to make your quit plan, get individual counseling, and develop strategies for preventing relapse. Quitline counselors offer continued support through follow-up calls, and counseling is available in both English and Spanish.

SmokefreeVET: Need a little encouragement while you’re quitting tobacco or smokeless tobacco? The free SmokefreeVET text message program will provide you with daily advice and support. Or, you can reach out when you feel tempted to use tobacco or stressed about quitting using the words URGE, STRESS, SMOKED, or DIPPED.

Stay Quit Coach: This mobile app was designed to help you quit smoking. Use it to develop a customized plan, taking into account your personal reasons for quitting. It will provide information, motivational messages, interactive tools for dealing with urges, and support to help you stay smoke-free.
