Minneapolis VA Health Care System
The Hematology-Oncology (Hem-Onc) Service at the Minneapolis VA Health Care System provides quality cancer patient care, conducts both clinical and laboratory cancer research programs to improve the care and outcome of our VA cancer patients, and educates trainees in cancer care.
The Hem-Onc Section provides both inpatient and outpatient consultative services for the evaluation and care of approximately 30 new patients weekly, and has approximately 13,000 outpatient provider visits annually.

The 3V Hem-Onc Clinic is located on the 3rd floor just off of the Outpatient Elevators. In this clinic you will receive individualized attention specific to your disease. Your assigned staff physician will direct your care with the assistance of trainee physicians, physician assistants, nurses, and pharmacists. An Oncology social worker and dietician is available to help with your care needs.
The Hem-Onc Procedure Clinic, located on 3F, coordinates and provides outpatient cancer treatment. The clinic provides outpatient care five days a week and is staffed by nurses and two pharmacists, with clerical support. The nursing staff serves the outpatient Hem-Onc clinics, administers chemotherapy, and provides other patient care needs such as the transfusion of blood products and hydration. Any necessary weekend chemotherapy administration is provided by designated chemotherapy-trained staff of 3F inpatient care nurses.
